Several members and friends enjoyed a luncheon and hilarious Noel Coward comedy play "Blithe Spirit" at the Hunterdon Hills, New Jersey Playhouse. Lodge members regularly enjoy excursions of this type.
Members enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing at the Buck Hotel in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. The annual dinner dance and fundraiser featured several silent auction tables filled with large gift baskets, jewelry, and a variety of special gifts and gift cards generously donated by members, local merchants, and industry sponsors.
Members and friends enjoyed a fun filled evening during the Lodge's first annual "Pizza Mania Fundraiser Contest" held in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The event featured dozens of pizzas served up by the Kohl's Cares "A" Team" of Kohl's Department Store of Oxford Valley, Pennsylvania.
Members and friends enjoyed a fun filled family picnic honoring "Membership Appreciation Day" at Core Creek Park in Middletown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania...
...with live music and fun games of bocce, horseshoes, and quoits. This covered dish affair consisted of a large variety of homemade special Italian summer dishes along with hot dogs, sausage with peppers and onions, corn on the cob and homemade desserts.
Members and family enjoyed a Best of Trenton Tour that began at the Washington Crossing Visitor Center and Museum at the New Jersey State Park. The Center's exhibit galleries explore the many facets of America's revolutionary conflict with an emphasis on the military campaign known as "The Ten Crucial Days"...
...The events of these ten days, December 25, 1776 through January 3, 1777, include the Continental Army's crossing of the Delaware River and the Battles of Trenton and Princeton. The visit included a demonstration of the loading and firing of a revolutionary war musket.
Despite a wintery snowy Sunday afternoon many brave members and friends challenged the surprise storm and enjoyed an outstanding concert performance "From Venice With Love" with Venetian born Pop Star Giada Valenti and her band at the Bucks County Community College Gateway Auditorium in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where Giada performed to an enthusiastic audience in this state-of-the-art theater. Her enchanting musical journey covered many popular tunes of the past several decades, as well as a variety of Italian songs and joyous Christmas music.
Family, friends and members enjoyed a dinner and business meeting at the Morrisville Senior Center, along with a discussion covering ‘a good deed boy scout project' at St. Ignatius Church in Yardley given by Life Scout Steven Pellegrino a member of Boys Scouts of America Troop 230 and his sister Michelle a Silver Project girl scout who reviewed and discussed their project "A Woman's Place," a refuge for people affected by domestic violence¹. Steven pointed out that the reason for his project was to provide bookshelf storage for people who flee from domestic violence that are unable to take with them heavy or bulky items likes books. Steven working on his Eagle Scout project was given funding assistance by the PNL C&E Foundation for the bookshelf units that he built at Saint Ignatius Church where his sister Michelle helped to fill them with books.
Not to be forgotten; year after year Piazza Nuova Lodge member Barbara Lawless and her two volunteer friends Jennifer Gallagher and Lisa Baxter work together to pack warm winter clothing for shipment to impoverished American-Indian reservations. This year they concentrated their efforts on the tribes of Wounded Knee, Pine Ridge, Takini, and Red Cloud, South Dakota where the quality of life is very difficult, with issues of infant mortality, life expectancy, malnutrition and poverty are rampant.
Santa's helpers were at it again as members in cooperation with "A-Team" volunteers from Kohl's Department Store #282 Oxford Valley, PA prepared ten gift food baskets for Catholic Charities in Levittown, PA.
